INDEPENDENT VETS GET FAR BETTER REVIEWS BASED ON LONDON ANALYSIS. Corporate vets come bottom

From an analysis that we carried out today of the Google review ratings given by the public to the 232 veterinary practices that operate in the London (as defined by postcode) area, independent vets come top and corporate vets come bottom. This is a massive blow for the corporate veterinary model.

The six largest corporates own or control about 60% of the veterinary practices in the UK. In London that figure is 54%. From that figure the independents and corporates should share any figures roughly half and half, however…

1. There are 9 veterinary practices that have a 5 star Google rating. They are all independents.

2. There are 15 veterinary practices that have a 4.9 star rating. Only one of these is a corporate; the other 14 are all independents. Therefore, out of the top 24 rated practices only 1 is a corporate.

3. At the other end, of the 11 practices that have the lowest rating (3.9 or less), 7 are corporates. The lowest two ratings (3.7 and 3.5) are both corporates.

If these figures are representative of the UK as a whole, then they prove that the independents are far more popular with pet and animal owners than the corporates. Some might say, "What a surprise."

The 9 independents that have a 5 star rating are:

CatCuddles Tony Welsh Cat Clinic. SE13 6SN.

Creature Comforts Notting Hill. W11 2SE.

Eliza Vet. NW6 4BT.

Emergency Home Vet. SE23 3NL.

Palace Vets. SW1V 1LW.

PalliVet. N5 2RS.

Pickles Fulham. SW6 5HU.

Vet in the City. E5 9LN.

Whiskers 'n' Beans. W10 4BF.
